I was born in Hampshire in the 1950’s to a production line manager and a housewife (they used to have these then).
From an early age, I had a yearning to write a book and my first book was finished at the age of 14. I still have the 40 pages of stapled felt-tip pen hand drawn contents in my possession – and that’s where it stays!
My professional career as an entrepreneur has always run in parallel to my love of writing and I’m pleased to say that my worldwide book sales now exceed 100,000 – thank you to everyone.
I live on the South Coast of England with my wife and we have three children and, at the time of writing, four beautiful grandchildren.
Below is the selection of my currently available books to purchase.
Aren't We A Funny Lot?
Football hooligans, Friday-night binge drinking, NHS waiting lists, corrupt politicians – oh and the climate... there are seemingly endless things that make us despair of life in modern Britain.
In a series of chapters covering such diverse topics as sleep, sex and sunshine (or the lack of all three), he pinpoints the weird and wonderful idiosyncrasies that make us British what we are. Witty, insightful and razor-sharp, Aren’t We a Funny Lot? will have you laughing out loud and even rethinking that plan of relocating to the Algarve (Brevit allowed).
7 Winning Steps for Growth
In today’s competitive times it can be challenging to grow your accountancy firm.
This book is written especially for accountants in practice, drawing on Richard’s experience as managing partner in his own very successful accounting and business advisory firm, as well as his role as strategic advisor to firms around the world.
The 7 WINNING Steps provides a step-by-step approach to being a 21st Century Firm.
Being a Saint
Being a football fan involves so much passion, pleasure and it has to be said – pain!
Richard’s book is a tongue in cheek tale of the best (and worse) of the seasons and eras from 1964 to date. It’s as much about what it’s like to be a proud and passionate Saint, as a history of the football club. You will share and remember the old Dell days, “Give it to Ron”, hooliganism, crazy away japes, European adventures, 1976 and all that, Le Tiss, The Old Enemy (not Bournemouth), those great Rickie and Nigel seasons and more recent times as well as look forward with Richard’s next generation of Saints, in the form of his grandsons.
This book is a must for Saints fans who will love the memories and story telling nature of the 50 plus years of Being a Saint and all that pain, passion and pleasure.
97 Ways To Greater Business Success
Business owners tend to have passion and drive in abundance. Success is an emotive concept so it’s important to find your success definition and then passionately go for it!
This book draws on Richard’s experiences as a serial entrepreneur and provides 97 simple, but enlightening ideas for busy business owners over six chapters. It’s a dip-in book, so have fun and take what you want and feel is relevant to you.
Aren’t You Ready Yet?:
The truth about X v Y (well maybe)
We live in a world of equality where we treat everyone the same – or do we?
Men and women are different and if you are a man it’s important to better understand the fairer sex (yes, it’s that word already) and if you are a woman, it’s important to fight back against the lazy thinking surrounding your gender.
With tongue in cheek, Richard and Marion Walters explore twenty of the most sweeping generalisations about women and provide some surprising facts about the battle of the sexes. Even those unlikely bedfellows of men hating feminists and sexist men can chuckle along with the rest of us, knowing that the male equivalent Aren’t You Listening to Me? isn’t far away!
This is a light, humorous dip-in book that you will be quoting to your friends, male and female and it might just challenge some of your own pre-conceptions (well maybe).
